About Our Organization

Rooted in community, guided by evidence, and committed to dignity.

Our Identity

Founded in 2025 in Jigjiga, Somali Regional State, BMHPDO is an indigenous non-profit NGO dedicated to transforming mental health care access and promoting psychosocial resilience.

Our Vision

A mentally healthy, resilient, and inclusive society where every individual has equitable access to quality mental health and psychosocial support services and lives with dignity, hope, and opportunity.

Our Mission

To improve the mental health, psychosocial well-being, and resilience of vulnerable individuals and communities through accessible, evidence-based, community-centred, and sustainable mental health and psychosocial support programmes, while strengthening local systems, promoting human rights, and fostering strategic partnerships across Ethiopia.

Why We Exist

In the Somali Regional State and across Ethiopia, mental health needs often outpace available services. Stigma, limited resources, and humanitarian pressures leave many without care. BMHPDO was created to close that gap through community-based, culturally responsive mental health and psychosocial support.

We believe recovery is possible when clinical expertise meets compassion, and when services reach people where they live, work, and worship.
